First Update on Linda’s Cancer Journey

Hi Family and Friends,

First – thank you so much to everyone who has called, texted, visited, and donated to Linda over the last few weeks. We cannot tell you how grateful we are for such a supportive and kind community!

Linda was released from Seton on Saturday, January 11th, and is staying with her sister Tammy’s family in San Marcos.
Chemo treatment will begin on January 27 at Texas Oncology in San Marcos and will be one week of treatment and a break for two weeks before starting the next round of chemo.

We are optimistic that the chemo will be effective at shrinking the tumor and helping her regain her appetite and strength. She has struggled with pain and lack of appetite since she was released from the hospital, but the pain medication is effective at reducing the pain.

The next month will give us more insight into how effective the chemo will be and will allow the doctors to develop a treatment plan that is longer term. Ideally, she will respond well and be able to have surgery to provide additional relief. At this point, the main goal is to get her some relief from the pain by shrinking the tumor and keeping her comfortable.

The funds we have received so far are being used to pay for the hospital expenses from MD Anderson and Seton. We are working with Seton to establish a payment plan since the expenses for the tests and treatment there were substantial.

Thank you, all! Please keep Linda and her family in your thoughts and prayers! We will post an update after the first round of chemo.

Stay well!
